Former LSU star and New Orleans Saints player and announcer Hokie Gajan died on Monday night after a battle with cancer called Liposarcoma.

Saints owners Tom and Gayle Benson issued the following statement on Tuesday, per ESPN:
quote:

"Hokie Gajan was a true New Orleans Saint, as a player, a valued member of our scouting staff and later as a broadcaster," the statement said. "Overall, he impacted our whole organization and had a special relationship with our fans for 36 years. We will miss Hokie dearly and our thoughts and prayers go out to Judy, their four daughters and the entire Gajan family."

Here are some Gajan's stats during his playing years at LSU, according to The Advocate:
quote:

Gajan finished his LSU career with 1,563 rushing yards along with 31 receptions for 283 yards. He also had 896 yards in kickoff returns and led the Southeastern Conference in that category (third in the NCAA) in 1978, when his 99-yard return against Wyoming was the difference in a 24-17 victory.
