FORMER CAPTAINS SELECT LSU FOOTBALL’S “NEXT GREAT 25 TEAM”

BATON ROUGE – As part of LSU’s celebration of 125 seasons of football in 2018, the school has released “The Next Great 25,” a team comprised of the 25 best players by position over the last quarter century. The team was selected by the permanent team captains from 1993-2017.

For players to be placed on the ballot they had to fall under one of the following categories: First Team All-America, First-Team All-SEC, or first round NFL Draft pick. The team consists of 11 players on offense and defense along with three specialists.

The “Next Great 25” serves as a compliment to LSU’s Team of the Century, which was selected as part of the school’s Centennial Football Celebration in 1992.

The listing of the team, along with biographical information on those players, can be found at www.LSUsports.net.

Faneca best of all the linemen. If a fullback was listed, Tommy "touchdown" Banks

No Juice aka Jarvis Landry? Fooked up!

I actually think he was more reliable than OBJ at LSU. Had fewer drops and was more physical. OBJ was still an excellent receiver, no doubt, but Jarvis would not be denied.

Cool to see Kelvin Sheppard on there. He's one of my all time favorite Tigers. Great leader in the room and on the field. He was a beast in that 2010 Alabama game.

There are enough left over that another team just as great could be made

I gotta have Juice or Bowe over OBJ... just my opinion, but I thought both of those and maybe even Doucet were better while at LSU.

Tuff to name these teams, always going to leave someone off. Can't really argue with these picks, but...

Devin White is better than all 3 LBers listed

Agreed... good players, but I thought it a little underwhelming besides Bradie James. White for sure should be on that list.

Were Kelvin and Highsmith better than guys like say Beckwith or Debo?
