You can remove Lane Kiffin from LSU's offensive coordinator search list.

Kiffin, who has served as Alabama's offensive coordinator for the past three seasons, has accepted a job to become head coach at Florida Atlantic, according to multiple sources.

Kiffin's name had been linked to the LSU offensive coordinator job on Ed Orgeron's staff many times over the past two weeks. Orgeron worked under Kiffin at Tennessee in 2009 and at USC from 2010 to 2013 and both coaches are very close friends.

Candidates for the job now include Pitt OC Matt Canada, former Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich, and Steve Sarkisian.

Great hire for FAU, now with Kiffin, Strong, Richt and McElwain that state will be a knockdown drag out recruiting war!

I think its a great move. he wants to go to a smaller school where he can win 6 or 7 games and be a god and then build the program up and get a bigger opportunity he has failed at 3 major jobs before so just start over and do it the right way and then maybe be a head coach 5 yrs from now and if he fails and is fired he can always go to a major program and be a o.c. win win if u ask me and the money aint a issue the guy been making millions the last 8 yrs or so. so making 600k free home no bills and probably able to eat for free wherever he goes shouldn't be a concern. I like what u did kiffin and im sure bama does as well.

Absolutely positively correct bluephe1914. Actually a smart move by Kiffin. He will make FAU competitive and anyone with a HC vacancy will be lining up to sign him in a couple of years.

So Kiffin could have earned near 2 mil to be OC at LSU, but took the HC job at a low-tier Group of 5 school in which he's only making 600k...Oh and we lost Narcisse earlier today and the week before Myles Brennan stated that he was "exploring his options"...24 he's after we offered Bama's 5 star QB commit....not a good start to the Orgeron era, that's for sure.

It is a good start. With Narcisse and his 2 torn ACL's leaving and possibly Canada running a pro style offense, I fully expect Brennan to reaffirm his commitment to the Tigers! That would be great news to me!

This is what happens when Saban drops you.

I like Canada, but he moves around A Lot! Check his record. Helfrich would probably be more stable, but he's been a HC and will likely leave if offered. This is just the nature of the business. Either way, it will be a major upgrade over what we've had the last 12 years!

Would prefer and want Mark Helfrich out of the remaining candidates.

FAU??? Hahaha, i wonder how much the Bama boosters are supplementing the FAU athletic department to keep him away from LSU? He will disappear and never be seen as a HC after this job...

I was going to post the same thing... Alabama knows what LK would have done with the talent that we have on offense... So I wouldn't doubt it
