Freshman defensive tackle Dare Rosenthal was spotted working at offensive tackle during Monday's practice and Ed Orgeron confirmed the move on Wednesday during the SEC Coaches Teleconference.

Rosenthal, a former four-star defensive tackle from Ferriday, LA, played both offense and defense in High School.

Orgeron explained that at 6-8 340-pounds, Rosenthal a solid candidate for the offensive line but that it will take some time to get him up to speed with his new position.

He can’t perform worse than what we have seen the first two weeks.

O-linemen are a hot and hard to find commodity in the NFL. They also tend to have long careers. This is a good move young man.

Watch the first 5 minutes of the “Blind Side” it may be Hollywood, but the importance of the position and the$ paid are spot on.

Who better to block a d-lineman than a d-lineman? I hope he is successful.

Hey Mr. Rosenthal, if you happen to see this message then I'd like to tell you that it looks to me that this is your most natural position and that I think you can make a dominant LT in College and in the NFL if you take this move seriously and just be a coachable player. I'm not the only person who thinks this. I know lots of real evaluators who have said the same things. I think you can be a lot like Robinson who played at Auburn but is from South La. You have the size, length, hands and athleticism to be a starting LT. Maybe start at RT next year then move to LT once Charles moves on. You and Cam Wire could be two great tackles for LSU and which ever NFL team y'all land on. Stick it out my man and be a great player for LSU and your State of Louisiana. Then you can do great things in the NFL and for your family. I'm confident that if you do everything that is asked of you and work at your new craft that by the end of the year and into next year you could start at RT for LSU.

His size almost mandates the move to OL. I did not know he is 6'8". He is an OT.

Dude was a 5* OT at one point. I don't understand why he wasn't an OT all the way in the first place.

He wanted to play DT. Glad they convinced him that his future is brighter on the OL.

Because he wanted to play defense. Sometimes these kids have their own vision of themselves and it takes some time for them to realize their true position.

I never heard of 6'8" 300 plus DT anyways. Offensive line is where he will make his money anyways.

calais campbell. But I agree. Dare will have a brighter future at OT.

It's encouraging to see O recognizing that our offensive line needs help and is doing something about it. I just hope that Charles coming back and Decalus switching to RT is enough to squeak out a win at Auburn.

This would have been a nice move to have made over the summer. Extra depth on the offensive line would be extremely beneficial right now.

Dare did not want to play OL when he committed to LSU. It probably took some convincing from the coaches.

Patrick is right. If the guy is adamant about playing his recruited position, what can you do? Maybe he now sees the light but this guy is a natural OT, there's no doubt about that. He just needed some time to realize it. He still may not agree but I think he really should listen bc everyone I've talked to thinks this guy could be one of the best in the SEC if he takes this seriously. LTs or good OTs period have a fairly long pro career and make lots of money if your considered one of the best. I think he can be that at some point and possibly not far in the future, depending on how he takes to this move.
