LSU defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin announced his decision to opt-out of the 2020 season back on August 31 but there have been some "rumblings" that he could be returning to the team.

On Tuesday, head coach Ed Orgeron said that he has not talked with Shelvin but has spoken with his parents about a possible return and said they would gladly welcome him back.

Someone must've advised him on what all of us already knew. He needs to play or his football days are done.

Obviously this is bleak comment but this is a huge life decision for him. If he decides to opt out and no play he will be 400 pounds and possibly be an unhealthy man the rest of his life. As he continues to learn health and awareness not only with LSU but with the NFL will ad many years to his life. I hope he comes back

As I said when it happened his path to riches runs through BR in 2020. He’ll never be heard from again if he stays out.

So now that opting out isn’t as cool as it was last week, players want to opt back in. Make them earn it Coach!

If his aspirations are the NFL he should run back to the team. I don't see him having the discipline to do this on his own. He has a great chance to position himself into a 1st round pick if he utilizes the support he'll being part of the team. Come on big fella

Quote: “If his aspirations are the NFL he should RUN back to the team.” LITERALLY, all the way from Crowley. And back and forth a few extra reps.

Probably missing the team and competition already. Hope he picks up his phone and calls Coach O. It will all blow over in a couple days after that.

Out of all the opt outs... he made the least sense. He should stay. Let Moffit keep his arse in shape and add some impressive highlights to the reel. Go first 3 rounds, big fella!

Tyler needs to do what’s hands down best for his NFL future. And that’s call Coach O and get back to work! Let’s Geaux!

Tyler needs to be putting in a ton of work to get that weight back down if he plans to go pro. Seems like playing football and utilizing the LSU nutrition center would be at the center of that effort.

If he stays out, he'll weigh 425 lbs at NFL tryouts next year.
