LSU-Clemson Preview: Lane Kiffin Era Begins Saturday Night In Death Valley

The wait is finally over.
The Lane Kiffin era at LSU officially begins Saturday night when the No. 11 Tigers host Clemson in one of the biggest games of college football's opening weekend.
Kickoff inside Tiger Stadium is set for 6:49 p.m. CT on ABC, with Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, and Holly Rowe on the call.
Saturday's matchup is a rematch of last year's season opener, when LSU went into Clemson and came away with a 17-10 victory. This time, Kiffin will make his LSU debut under the lights in Death Valley.

The Matchup
All eyes will be on quarterback Sam Leavitt as the Arizona State transfer makes his LSU debut after recovering from offseason foot surgery.
Kiffin has surrounded Leavitt with plenty of weapons, including tight end Trey'Dez Green and wide receivers Eugene Wilson III, Jayce Brown, Winston Watkins Jr., Malik Elzy, and Phillip Wright III.
On the other side, Clemson will turn to Christopher Vizzina, who has appeared in 14 career games but has made just one start. He'll have two dangerous targets in Bryant Wesco Jr. and TJ Moore.
That could put the spotlight on Blake Baker's LSU defense, which returns Whit Weeks and DJ Pickett while adding several talented newcomers through the transfer portal and recruiting trail.
