LSU freshman running back Caden Durham had a breakout game vs. South Carolina, rushing for 98 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns.

On Monday, head coach Brian Kelly was asked if Durham's performance would make him the RB1 moving forward.
quote:

"That's yet to be determined," Kelly responded. "I don't think we're at a point where he's going to 'be the guy.' I think we are still going to have all of those guys be a part of it. But he certainly saw the things we were looking for."

"South Carolina was running some things inside with their tackles that were cutting off our combination blocks. That required patience to bounce that, and he saw it well and was able to get the ball outside. And you can't teach that. You have to naturally see it. The vision to do that in the game is a positive for him moving forward."

just hiding it from the media to prevent opponents from focusing on defending against Caden

I really don’t think so, I think what you saw vs then will be about the same ball distribution for the next couple of weeks unless we see more considerable production from him. I’m thinking it’ll be 40-40-20 with Durham, Jackson, then Williams respectively.

God no. Durham should be 80%. Kaleb Jackson is a guaranteed 2 yards straight up middle, no vision, no cut outside, just run into the pile

Sometime's the correct action is obvious. Coaches get too scared, too political (playing older guys, lets not let true freshman get all carries), and too analytical/preservative, that it just becomes dumb. Sometimes the obvious move is the obvious move, and it's simple. This would be one of those times.
