Brian Kelly Says Three Things Went Into John Emery Jr.'s Return To LSU

During his post-practice press conference on Wednesday, head coach Brian Kelly explained that three things contributed to John Emery Jr.'s return to the team after he entered the transfer portal in the offseason.
Those things were:
-Trey Holly's legal situation.
Holly has been serving an indefinite suspension since February 15 and pleaded not guilty to a charge of illegal use of a weapon on April 16. In July, the court case was granted a September 18 continuance date. His legal team is convinced he will be proven innocent, and Brian Kelly said he can rejoin the team for the 2024 season once everything is settled.
-Emery Jr. graduated in May of 2024.
Emery Jr.'s career at LSU has been filled with many public ups and downs, but a positive highlight was his graduation in May 2024 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies.
-Emery Jr. worked hard to recover from his torn ACL.
The veteran running back suffered a season-ending ACL injury against Florida last November, but Kelly said he worked very hard to recover and get back on the field for one last year.
Over the last five years, he played in 37 games and rushed for 1062 yards and 14 touchdowns.
