LSU signed 23 players on National Signing Day and finished with the No. 7 recruiting class for 2017, according to ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout.

While the coaching staff missed out on five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, they were able to gain signatures from three uncommitted prospects in four-star linebacker Tyler Taylor, four-star safety Todd Harris, and five-star pass rusher K'Lavon Chaisson.

LSU did not have any commitments flip to other schools but four-star JUCO WR commit Stephen Guidry announced early Wednesday morning that he would not be signing with the Tigers. Guidry will return to Hinds Community College in Mississippi for one more year.

All in all, it was successful signing day for new head coach Ed Orgeron who took over four games into the 2016 season after Les Miles was fired. Orgeron was able to keep LSU's recruiting class intact and gain major commitments after landing the job full-time.

Given the circumstances ( coaching changes, uncertainty, getting on the recruiting trail late once the coaching staff was straightened out, etc.), I think LSU did pretty good. We missed out on a few, but it could have been a colossal disaster. I commend CEO and the rest of the LSU coaching staff for accomplishing so much within the window they had. Next year with the system that Canada will implement we should be to keep our top tier talent home.

Great class!!!The two middle backers were vital for this round.

It looks like LSU has a good connection in Tennessee in landing Stevens and Phillips. I also noticed we got 2 defensive players from Alabama! Win big this year and we should be able to keep the top Louisiana players at home. It's a process. As Ric Flair used to say: To be the best, you gotta beat the best! Woooo!

Some kids just want to get away no matter what so always expect to lose home talent at times.

Great first class. Sure they're are a couple dissapointments, but as a program we couldnt have asked for much better coming off of a firing midseason. The fact that over 90 percent of this class was from the previous staff and was able to kept intact with very few turnovers is amazing in itself. Coach O continues to impress.

Would have been nice to get a good RB but not bad at all. Once again, Bama gets all the expected superstars. I really wish a tornado would hover around Tuscaloosa

It did. About 6 years ago. Killed a lot of people. Be careful what you wish for. Karma is a bitch!

Yeah that same timeframe we got tornadoes in Huntsville....where I live..and I'm a Tiger fan. That's not the kind of stuff you wish on anyone. Please don't lower yourself to a Bama fan's level like their Katrina comments.
