Three-star tight end Zach Sheffer from Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (Nease) announced Sunday that he has committed to LSU.

He chose the Tigers over offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Auburn, Tennessee, and others.

LSU now has 21 commitments for the class of 2018 with the addition of Sheffer.

Forget the star ratings. They can be misleading. Look at the other teams making offers. Pretty sure Urban Meyer can spot good talent.

Why go many 3stars recruits? If O is supposed be an awesome recruiter, this class isn't showing it!! Unless he a good evaluator!!

Like Lexman1 said above, forget the number of *'s by these kids name and look at the other top D1 programs that had offered this kid - Ohio State, Michigan, Auburn, Tennessee plus others. Thats a pretty impressive group of elite teams that had already offered this kid and he chose LSU. People get way to invested in how many stars the recruiting sites give these kids, plus by the time the class is comlleted most of these 3 stars will be 4 and maybe even 5 stars. There have been olenty of great college players that were 2 and 3 stars and olenty of 5 stars that sucked ass.

I really can't remember getting this many recruits to commit this early under any previous coaching staff. I realize some of these guys will decommit at some point, but most will stay. Coach O said building early relationships with recruits is essential, and he has done just that! Very impressive! Keep up the good work guys!

It's because these 3stars don't have many options and love to jump at the chance to play for a big sec team.
