Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports
ESPN and CBS Sports released updated NCAA Tournament projections this week which included LSU.
ESPN has the Tigers as a No. 8 seed playing No. 9 San Diego St. in West Lafayette, IN. The winner would likely go on to face No. 1 Gonzaga in the second round.
CBS also has LSU as a No. 8 seed but playing No. 9 Colorado St. in West Lafayette. The winner would likely go on to face No. 1 Gonzaga in the second round.
The Tigers are currently 13-6, (8-4 SEC) with a NET Ranking of 26.

LSU wants to stay away from that 8 or 9 seed to avoid playing a one seed in the second round.

In Gonzaga or Baylor’s bracket for sure. Ohio State and Michigan are not the worst matchups possible.

LSU has some history of being successful as a #10 seed. That would probably be a better scenario than potentially being a sacrificial lamb as a #8 or #9 seed.
