LSU guard Javonte Smart was named SEC Freshman of the Week by the league office for his performance vs. Texas A&M and at Alabama last week.

SEC Freshman of the Week - LSU guard Javonte Smart, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound freshman from Baton Rouge, averaged 18 points, four rebounds 3.5 assists and two steals in wins against Texas A&M and at Alabama. Smart started the week with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals against Texas A&M. He followed that up with 19 points, four assists and two steals at Alabama. He has moved to the starting lineup in the last three games with Tremont Waters out with an illness. Smart raised his scoring average from 10.2 points to 11.4 over the course of the last three games.
