LSU athletic director Joe Alleva joined “Your Morning Drive” on 104.5/104.9 FM ESPN in Baton Rouge on Friday and spoke briefly about the LSU Basketball and the teams chances of making the NCAA Tournament this year. Per The Advocate:
quote:

“This is my fifth year on the committee, so I have a lot of experience doing this. As of yesterday, LSU’s RPI was 82. There has never been a team picked in the tournament at-large with an RPI over 80,” Alleva said. “As of right now, I don’t think (the chances are) very good.

“In other words, we need to win a lot of games. We can’t afford to lose many more games going forward.”
The Tigers (16-10, 9-4 SEC) travel to Knoxville to face Tennessee (12-14, 5-8 SEC) on Saturday in one of many must win games remaining on the Tigers schedule.

the obvious question that should have been put to Alleva is: what if we don't make the tourney, what is Jones' status?

Johnny Jones is. Good recruiter, but that will quickly fade if the #1 prospect misses the NCAA. Ben will be the last superstar in a while if this happens. Damn shame.

The last superstar in a while? He was going to be the last superstar in a while regardless. He didn't come to lsu because it's "LSU". He came to lsu because his godfather works there.
