LSU will be without pitchers William Schmidt and Casan Evans for the remainder of the Florida series so that they can be available for the SEC Tournament, head coach Jay Johnson said.

While the decision is likely the right one if the Tigers want any chance of making the NCAA Tournament, Johnson said not having Schmidt or Evans vs. Florida makes him "sick to his stomach."
quote:

"We have to make sure those guys are lined up and healthy," Johnson said. "And when you have to win five in a row, there’s no question that those two are going to be a part of that pitching plan, and maybe multiple times.

"Do I love not having William Schmidt in Casan Evans against Florida? No, I hate it. It makes me sick to my stomach."
LSU's loss to Florida in Game 1 locked the Tigers into the No. 14 seed in the SEC Tournament and will play on Tuesday in Hoover.

The opposite. He knows there is no chance other than the SEC tournament. However remote that opportunity is, winning it is the only chance.

These are the best we have, and they've been spotty at best. Can't wait till the days we put decent pitchers on the mound.
