Breaking: Five-Star Guard King Gibson Commits To LSU

Will Wade has landed one of his biggest recruiting wins at LSU.

Five-star guard King Gibson committed to the Tigers on Sunday during a live announcement on ESPN2, after last visiting Baton Rouge on Sept. 25.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Greensboro, North Carolina, who attends SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, is ranked the No. 1 combo guard in the 2027 class by Rivals and is a top-15 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings.

Gibson chose LSU over Louisville, Arkansas, and Providence, his final four schools.

"Just going there, seeing a lot of people, how the community loves each other, seeing the community just show love to me, show love to Coach Wade, it's just something I want to be a part of," Gibson said on ESPN2.

Gibson first received an LSU offer from previous coach Matt McMahon and his staff on June 27, 2024. Wade had also offered Gibson on June 7, 2025, when he led NC State.

He is the Tigers' second commitment in the 2027 class, joining four-star center Ahmad Hudson, who is also committed to play football at LSU.

The commitment gives Wade and his staff a major building block for LSU's 2027 class.
