Sensational LSU forward Ben Simmons was named SEC freshman of the week by league on Monday for his dominant play in LSU's victories over Ole Miss and Arkansas this past week.

This is Simmons' third time receiving the SEC freshman of the week honor this season. Per SECSports.com:

SEC Freshman of the Week - LSU's Ben Simmons, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward from Melbourne, Australia, averaged 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and five assists in wins over Ole Miss and Arkansas. Simmons had two double figure games and a double double in the two games. It marked his league leading and NCAA freshman leading 13th double-double when he had 16 points and 18 rebounds. It marked the fifth time this season he has posted 15 points and 15 rebounds in a game. Had 15 points and 5 rebounds with seven assists against Ole miss. He was 12-of-26 from the field in the two games and 7-of-13 from the field with 23 total rebounds, 10 assists and 31 points in the two contests. He is averaging 20.0 points per game and 12.9 rebounds a contest.

Texas A&M's Jalen Jones was named SEC player of the week. The Tigers face the Aggies in College Station at 8pm on Tuesday.
