LSU junior shortstop Alex Bregman is up for the Golden Spike Award which honors the top amateur baseball player in the country and today is the last chance for Tiger fans to cast their vote.

Bregman joins 3 other finalist which all hail from the SEC. Here are the finalist:

Arkansas Outfielder Andrew Benintendi
LSU Shortstop Alex Bregman
Vanderbilt Shortstop Dansby Swanson
Vanderbilt Pitcher Carson Fulmer

uh, no. I think both Swanson and Benintendi had better seasons---taking nothing away from Bregman.

Note, that this fan vote is only treated as one voter for the Golden Spikes. There are 219 total voters for this award. So this fan vote only constitutes .45% of the total voting process. It looks like Bregman will easily win the fan vote, but don't be all up in arms if someone else does in fact win the award since 218 other voters have their say so too. I realize that most here understand that this fan poll isn't the sole part of the voting process, but I'm sure there are others who are not up to speed as to how this works. I just thought that I'd clarify all of this now in the event that Alex wins the fan vote, but someone else wins the award.
