The Advocate is reporting that LSU is working on a new deal for baseball coach Paul Mainieri following the news that he reportedly interviewed with the University of Texas on Thursday for their open job.

It is unclear as to whether or not the Longhorns officially offered Mainieri the job.

Mainieri and athletic director Joe Alleva met Thursday afternoon in Mainieri’s office as reports swirled about the Longhorns’ interest in the 10th-year coach for their vacant head coaching position. Details of LSU’s offer were not immediately known, but the coach is expected to make a decision soon, likely by today.

D1Baseball.com reported Thursday afternoon that the Longhorns didn’t officially offer Mainieri its position. Nevertheless, Mainieri’s talks with UT officials were serious enough to prompt an immediate response from LSU’s administration.

The sad part is that when the salary information came out it was reported that the LSU Women's Basketball Coach makes $700,000 annually. That is only $50,000 less than PM. SERIOUSLY??? That is 100% ridiculous.

I'm sure no tiger fan has ever gotten a job offer with the sole intention at getting a raise at their current position. Give me a break.
