LSU right-handed pitcher Alden Cartwright will miss the 2017 season, according to head coach Paul Mainieri.

Cartwright suffered a season-ending elbow injury on April 3 of last season that required Tommy John surgery. Many were hoping Cartwright would be able to return for the 2017 season but he needed additional surgery this fall.

Sad to hear this...was looking fwd to watching him pitch this season... Best of luck Brady, thx for being a Tiger...but the LSU outfield is always stacked with talent...

Very sad news for Alden and Tiger Nation. Very talented pitcher and was counting on him to be a force for us this year. Multiple surgeries usually are career enders for most, but never say never. Get your degree Alden! You have a bright future wether it's in baseball or another avenue. Our prayers are with you!

Alden knew from the beginning that Pro Ball was a long shot. His dream growing up was to play ball here at LSU and he is living it. He is going to be back in 2018.

Yeah, but he should be graduating soon, right? Guess it depends on if he wants to stick around for 5-6 years.

Yeah, but question now is will he even stick around that long. Pro ball would be out of the question until he can prove he's healthy, but he may not want to even risk further injury.
