Yeah, my very first thought is that these coaches know they are mic'd up and they watch on TV every year and know everyone can hear what they say when they visit the mound. He did this for the attention 100%.

I tend to agree, unfortunately. He knew he was mic'ed and this was planned knowing he'd get good PR. Still, telling your son you love him is always a good thing.
