CBS' Jim Nantz Recorded Young Fan's Voicemail Message
by Larry Leo

Jim Nantz has one of today's most distinct sports broadcaster voices. He does play-by-play for the NFL, NCAA basketball and pro golf, but having him do a custom voicemail message for this guy's son is by far his coolest gig yet. Here's how it all went down...

Two Golf Digest readers took their sons to Scotland to watch The Open Championship and play golf at Cruden Bay, Kingsbarns, and Luffness. The boys, Elliott Cohen and Phinney Sachs, got a special treat when they happened to run into Jim Nantz, who was also there to watch the third major of the year. According to the story, the guys met up with Nantz at midnight and went for a walk to see the graves of Old Tom Morris and Young Tom Morris.
After they visited the graves, they went to the hotel bar where Phinney asked Jim Nantz if he would record a voice-mail message for him. Nantz obliged and then told him how Phil Mickelson had asked him for the same thing, and that Lefty had recorded one for Nantz also.
