I know there are arguments against players being restricted in transfer options, and sometimes those restrictions are ridiculously punitive, but in Grier's case, UF has a solid case for it. The kid ruined his own season and kinda ruined UF's season by cheating. Allowing him to go bolster an opponent (or potential opponent in, say, the SECCG) means he's essentially twisting the knife while they're scrambling to find a decent replacement for him, a replacement they might have developed further had they known Grier would do this,

Go to a Juco for one year and then he can go wherever he wants.

UF does not want to play him because he's capable of scoring more than 2 TDs whereever he goes and they could never win that game with their pathetic offense.

Almost every single D1 school would do this...not fair to have to face him in a game. BTW it is my understanding that with a full year sit out by transferring....he wont have to sit out six games afterwards.

First transfer only. After that, he's free to do what he wants. The real question is how the NCAA will handle his timetable. They grant medical redshirts for more time than Grier actually spent on the field. I wonder if the time of his suspension next season will count toward the one year limit or if the clock starts ticking when the suspension is up after 6 games?

If he's got to sit out a year for D1 anyways, can't he just go to D1AA for a year and then go wherever he wants? Does the restriction apply to his career, or just this first transfer?
