Went on guided trip to Cross this evening. Here is a pic of my guide showing me how it's done. ...

re: Louisiana Purchase Cypress Legacy trees - Anybody seen one? - Palo Gaucho
What makes it inaccessible
The stand density is extremely high, you can't get a boat, pirogue, etc... into a lot of these areas just because of how thick the timber is. You've also got to contend with massive amounts of aquatic vegetation (lily pads, hyacinth, slavinia, hydrilla,...

re: Louisiana Purchase Cypress Legacy trees - Anybody seen one? - Palo Gaucho
Most people have no idea how
Government loves to protect things they don't own. I'm all for conservation, but the gubmit needs to put up or shut up when it comes to private property rights. If they want to protect something the land owner needs to be fairly compensated. I deal wi...

re: Louisiana Purchase Cypress Legacy trees - Anybody seen one? - Palo Gaucho
Cool thread. I bet there are some really old ones in Caddo Lake, there is so much of that lake (mostly Texas side) that is completely inaccessible, which leads to really old trees....

re: Fishing on Lake Fork or Bob Sandlin this weekend. - Palo Gaucho
If you're having to fish from the bank, the marina's are your best bet (Lake Fork Marina, Oak Ridge, etc...). The only other places to bank fish are around the bridges. There are a lot of retreads around the marinas....

re: Going price for deer lease is this too high? - Palo Gaucho
You got fence property for 12 bucks an acre? Yes, but it's low quality fence and it's in East Texas in Sabine & San Augustine Co. I know I could get more for it, but the club that has it has been there for a long time and are good managers, plus this is more of a short term investment....

re: Going price for deer lease is this too high? - Palo Gaucho
The going rate in NW LA & East TX is around $6-$8/acre. I've got a few tracts I charge $12/acre for but they're either high fenced or have a little somrthing extra like a nice camp or some limited duck hunting. $33/acre is STOUT! I know I haven't reached the top of the market, but posts like makes m...

If he's bringing a mechanic with him to check it out, I'd consider him more than a tire kicker and would do the test drive. I'd also profile the shite out of all potential buyers....

Find the one with the best warranty in your price range. In my opinion, there isn't that much difference in similarly priced rods of the more popular brands. ...
