Pretty nerdy for a baw, pretty macho for a nerd.

I dabbled

The folks who created the Nerdy Personality Attributes Scale (NPAS) are definitely tremendous nerds. I love it.

For my fifth birthday my mom bought me a set of World Book Encyclopedias and my great-aunt & uncle gave me a subscription to National Geographic.

I finished reading the encyclopedias by the age of 8 and kept the National Geographic subscription into my late 20s.

Plus, there’s the whole scale model thing.

53. My having absolutely no interest in science fiction or video games dragged my score down.

Not very growing up, but I'm trending that way. The older I get the less social and more I seek after knowledge. I don't really know what a nerd is, these days, though. When I was young it just meant physically/socially awkward or abnormally intellectual. I'm not either of those things.

Not much. I was only really into Star Wars and computers (born in 81). I was way into sports and things like that more than anything.

My nerdiness really only developed after graduate school.

I got a 42 on the test

I probably scored fairly low because I’m not into comic books, video games, and not particularly socially awkward or into Sci Fi.

Those weee the questions that would have pushed my score higher.

I definitely read a lot and am fine being alone (but I also like being with other people).

Am I your long lost brother?

FWIW
Smithsonian > National Geographic
World Book > Britannica

National Geographic was Playboy before Playboy existed. Old Porn

Until the late 80's or early 90's I used to read all the articles in Smithsonian (cover to cover) and their ads in the back appealed to me more. How else could a kid buy a magnifying glass from Edmund Scientific that had such good workmanship it could ignite concrete.

I'm socially awkward but I like "normal" things like sports.

I learned how to operate a slide rule. My dad had one identical to this one (case included).
