How will California deal with the inevitable mass immigration if they leave?

Fair enough, please address the questions I rhetorically asked earlier if you have a chance. I'm assuming you're in healthcare, with the BN, so I'd be interested in your opinion regarding a single payer in the country of Cali as well. Thank you :)

I wholeheartedly endorse the Land of Fruits & Nuts getting the frick out of the USofA. Cali is already North Mexico.

Wow...there is a lot to respond to...
First, don't assume I am a SJW/snowflake/Liberal. I don't vote party lines and I would feel just as strongly about possible Calexit if HRC had won. Federal taxes aren't going down under either party.
My question regarding secession was more theoretical. Have we become a nation of truly different people. When I spoke of the south leaving I supported that for my family. Most are Republican and very conservative and have lived with Policy changes that are opposite of their core beliefs. E.g. Abortion, marriage equality, etc.
I left and moved somewhere that the value system is closer to mine. I am fiscal conservative and social liberal if I have to labeled.
I'm just not sure we are nation of people who like each other. Look at the posts...many are open to kicking us out. Maybe it is time for states to have more rights.

Sorry single payer....
That's a tough one. Being In Healthcare i see both sides...the incredible waste on futile care, the screwball system of insurance vs. self pay, the incredibly fricked up system of the Feds paying for undocumented patients....I honestly don't have a good fix. I support transparency of cost though. If you know him much a steak cost before you order you should K ow how much the heart Cath costs too.

I imagine some would move left and some would move right. Not sure how that would be handled. Maybe like musical chairs....in 30 days where ever you are is where you are a citizen...

Nice plan. You would have the whole of Latin America within your border within 2 weeks.

So I would just have to abandon my assets if I couldn't sell/close on them in 29 days?

Our borders are already fairly fluid. If they want to be here they already are. Most of us here don't mind. I just want to assign them a state number used to collect the same state taxes I'll pay.

Yes,, because when you take away the Illegal then there are more loyal Americans than disloyal ones. You guys have to understand American failed Cali by letting the Illegal Immigration get out of hand. We have a chance to fix it starting with the Trump Presidency.

Lord have mercy. Heather is leaps and bounds smarter than you.

So you and your brethren are equally for voter IDs?

Now would be a good time for CA to leave. You would have to take your share of the debt but the rest of us would not have to bail out your state pensions!

I don't have some brilliant idea for a utopia. I just don't believe we are a nation of like minded people anymore. Is it time for that to change? Do we divide up the nation?
Edit: pager is going off again I'll have to continue this later....thanks for the discussion though

Some areas we keep like the navel bases and port facilities. Sort of a Hong Kong type arrangement. And the rest can go to hell.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sure we are from similar backgrounds and I appreciate your idealism, but I disagree with the realities of the Democrats gov't sponsored way of life.

While I understand your point, I don't think that it fully addresses the point.
If one isn't an anarchist, that doesn't mean that there isn't a tipping point where the divergence isn't too great to justify a union.
And, conversely, moving smaller, there is almost certainly a tipping point where having no union is a bigger problem than having one.
To me, we quite simply aren't one country anymore. While I think the folks in California are politically nuts, I also recognize they think the same about Kansas, Alabama, etc etc.
Our founders recognized this too and designed a country where California and Alabama were allowed to be damned near as different as they wanted to be.
But, we went an fricked that up. Since reverting to the correct set up for a nation this large looks impossible, in my view, balkanazation is not only inevitable, it is the RIGHT thing to do.

Fine by me. Just don't send them my tax dollars or earthquake relief.
