Would anyone object to a Calexit?

I have often thought the South should be allowed to secede....the views, values, ways of life are different than other areas. I believe that people should be governed by people with congruent values.
I left the South because my views/values are different....now living in California I find myself supporting the idea of Calexit. We are so different here, why not amicably split? I read on this board all the time how much people dislike the Left Coast....have we reached the point of splitting up?

Umm the dems don't want to lose the 55 electoral votes. Also where would cali get water from?

Exactly---why stay in a marriage where we hate each other?

No. And your state will immediately go bankrupt when it has to fund it's own military.

I understand the hurdles. I am asking more why anyone would object to California leaving if you deeply disagree with the way of life here?

North California shoukd split from the south. Then the south can fall off into the ocean or be given back to Mexico

This. That state should really be split into two states. North California and North Mexico.

California is a weeping redheaded virgina stepchild, but it's our weeping redheaded virgina stepchild.

Either leave or an earthquake will break Cali off into the ocean.

Nope. Any State that wants to go should go. Cal would be a viable nation on it's own.

I support Calexit... they can buy their water and power from us
All the goods going to their ports would now come to the GoM, helping boost gulf state economies

Me too! I want to still be friendly...be able to visit the US with a passport of course. But I can't think of many reasons to stay. This concept has been on the news everyday since the election and is the water cooler topic daily at work.

When was the south part of Mexico? Texas is not the south.

If they do Calexit that will be means for building an even bigger wall

The viability is real....at first this seemed far fetched but reading some of the analysis...I can't believe how self sufficient this state is. It is remarkable the resources it has...and if you consider Washington and Oregon as being interested in joining Calexit...the possibilities are endless.
