As has been stated previously, and I am of like mind, I respect your opinion if you are a pro lifer. I really do. Just don't go pushing your religious beliefs on me.
I have a couple points to bring to this discussion. First, I have known three different big time pro lifers over my lifetime. Interesting, they all got women pregnant and guess what? That's right, they got an abortion. Guess what? Right after that they went back to being prolife because they didn't want someone to make the same mistake they made.
Prolifers are often prolifers till they need to make a choice. Then they make the choice they don't want others to make. Then, independently, they all said don't make the same mistake I made to explain away their hypocrisy.
Second, a fetus could just as easily be referred to as a parasite early on as anything else. It needs the host to live and sucks energy from the host.
Third, if someone could legitimately come up with a law that could allow abortions for rape and when the mother's life is at risk, then many more people would be for it. However, that can not be done.
Whatever one wants to call abortion, it is here to stay. And sorry, I don't think many things like this should be states rights.
I love the fact that many crazy people want to make things like gay marriage and abortion states decisions. Just like the KKK wanted civil rights to fall under the auspices of the state.
I am sorry. But just because you live in a state where there are lots of other crazy, like minded people does not give you the right to discriminate, be racist, be bigoted, be sexist, or be something else along those lines. There are certain rights that this country believes all its citizens are permitted and it will not allow the states to decide upon those issues.
You know, I don't know why we even talk about cases of rape. Because everyone knows that in cases of legitimate rape, the woman's body can shut things down...
