Yeah well House will not be his defensive coordinator nor his position coach.
I hope the move pays off for the Jags. Last season was a cluster for Smith with defensive coaching. We didn't even have a defensive line coach for the first month of the season. Hopefully some good NFL level coaching will help him reach his potential.

He may not have contributed much with the Jags, but he was infinitely more productive and a huge team leader as a junior at LSU. It was a very similar situation. Both players with big upside tore their ACL in the first game of their sophomore season. I remember seeing videos of Chiasson doing sprints at six weeks post op. He was awarded #18 by his teammates. Maason looked out of shape and slow almost all year. He made the right decision obviously because he was drafted in the second round. This will be interesting to watch going forward.

Good for Maason. I questioned his decision and didn't think he'd get drafted high, but clearly my dumb arse was wrong. Wish him the best and hope he kicks arse for Jacksonville.

I also thought he was making a mistake, but just yesterday while working out I happened to watch a replay of the bowl game vs Wisconsin and was a little impressed by him.
