It's the prudent thing to do. The Clinton's are done politically. The CF is losing donations where their days as a political slush fund are over.

If what Comey said was true, taking her to trial might end up as an acquittal. That would make for a media spectacle and Trump would be badly damaged. It's not worth the risk.

Do y'all really think that someone that values loyalty as much as Trump, that his appointed heads of state are going to defy what he says? The political shitstorm would have been bad enough had Hillary been prosecuted, but I can't imagine how bad it would be if Trump said this and then goes back on his word and prosecutes her anyway.

The hilarious spin y'all are putting on this is comical. Y'all can't even bother to try to be objective.

Month ago: He's gonna lock her up! She deserves to be in prison! I can't wait for him to win and he go after her!

Now: Solid move, needs to focus on economy and other things.

The highest genius in war is to convince the enemy that you are retreating when you are attacking, and to convince the enemy that you are attacking when you are in fact retreating.

I'm thinking the investigation of the CF will continue after Trump takes office. What happens remains to be seen but the Clintons are not going to stop with their nefarious schemes and DJT is not that naive. At least I hope he is not.

I said before the election that all of the "lock her up" shite would never happen. Got downvoted for it. There were threads upon threads circlejerking over Trump locking her up.

Now he changes positions and everything is hunky dory? The water carrying by this board is monumental.

FWIW not melting just laughing, also this is the correct political move.

He didn't say that he won't allow justice to be served, he said, he won't pursue prosecution at this point, right now. It's not to say that won't change at some point in the future and if she broke the law, the Justice Department will independently investigate and pursue charges, not the President.

And like someone mentioned earlier, the Clinton Foundation is still under investigation. She's not free and clear by a long shot.

Y'all are still stuck on 2D.

He's not president yet, still has a couple of months, no need to fuel discontent and angst at this point.

No need to draw more "pardon" attention.

No need for Trump himself to say or do anything re: any charges, that's the FBI/DOJ's job. And they can continue it as they please.

3D - put it on the shelf for now as a President-elect issue. Those whose job it is to investigate and charge can still operate accordingly.

So saying," she's been through enough" is now a legitimate excuse to escape prosecution from breaking federal laws?
