I know this is discussed weekly, but I'll ask anyway.

I have a friend in town from Chicago for one night. He is looking to go somewhere not too expensive, dressy or needing reservations.

Open to any recommendations. Thinking Jacque-Imos. I've been a ton of times and love that place.

What are some other favorites of the F & D Board?

No way...I was asking about places to go in NOLA. How would I have know everyone would have said Dick and Jenny's? After I saw the recommendation, I googled Dick and Jenny's and came across this offer...I would never SPAM on here. Was just tyring to be helpful to the F & D members.

Long time lurker. Finally gave in and set up an account. Been on here for over 3 years. Thanks for the recommendations. I'm open to any other recommendations. If you all would like, I can remove the link? I was just trying to share with you all since you sounded like you like the place so much. Thanks again everyone.

Palace Cafe is a great suggestion, as is Dick and Jenny's. I still love Jacque-imo's, no matter what the haters say.

Palace Cafe is Great if you are in the quarter... kind of a hassle if you are not in the Quarter.

Dick and Jenny's is awesome if you are uptown.

If you want an adventure... find your way to Charlie Seafood Charlies Seafood link on YELP. There is no Chef in New Orleans who is a better person than Frank Brightsen. And nobody in Louisiana can prepare a better piece of fish either.

I have not been to Jacque-Imo's since before Katrina. I wouldn't call me a 'hater'. I just lost a lot of respect for Jack for treating Austin Leslie like Crap and then pretending that Austin was his best friend after he passed. I think that a lot of Haters have become Haters because of their run-ins with Jack Leonardi (the owner) rather than the food.

Ended up at D & J's last night. Was great. Had the crab cakes & fried green tomoatoes and the "spring roll." Our friend from out of town loved it as well. Wife had the scallops dish - awesome! The sauce was unbelievable.

3rd time there and was very enjoyable as always. I also used the coupon from the link above and they honored it without any question.

Yuk. Charlie's is quite possibly the most mediocre restaurant I went to in the past year. That's no reflection on Brigtsen's.

No way in the world would I take someone there who's here for a single evening.

I also think Jacques-Imo's is a great suggestion - it's pretty much a guaranteed good time.

WTF did that taste like? I'm usually adventurous with my order but that sounds scary. I'm impressed.
