Not shoulder mounting the buck may have come across as you not respecting the buck that they’d all dreamed of.
Jealousy can be a terrible thing. I was in a similar situation when I was younger. The problem was that I was too good at killing deer. They didn’t kick me out, but some of them wanted to.
The best setup I was ever in was a club where you signed in for areas of 150-300 acres. There were no private stands.
Good luck finding another spot.

IMHO you are in the club for one year from the date you paid dues, anything less they owe you some money back

First deer I ever killed as a teenager was a massive 8 point on family land. I had it shoulder mounted but since then I haven’t had one done. If I ever kill a bigger buck I’ll have it shoulder mounted.

This was in October 1998

. I got in a club when I was in Va Beach this right after several news stories of La duck hunters going way way over limits and baiting - they watched me like a hawk

This is why I saved up and bought my own property. Dealing with grown men acting like asses is not for me.

OP, I'd be a spiteful a-hole.

If none of the members owned the land, I'd send that email along with the club rules to the owner of the land to let him know what little bitches they are. I'd also tell them about the camp you restored with your own money.

After I collected all my stuff out of the camp, I'd be tempted to burn it to the ground.

I'm getting to the point where I almost enjoy the food plot prep, trail clearing and general off-season maintenance as much as the actual hunting. I want my family and friends to score a good deer when they come.

*Although I'm still torqued about the huge buck I absolutely choked on this season. My blood pressure may subside enough to share it in about 5 years. So I guess I do care more about the hunting a tad bit.

You're better off not hunting with those petty assholes anyway

I’m the exact same way. I want my wife and kids to kill deer more than I want to. It’s becoming more like that every year. I’ve already started on the new plot we are planning for next season.

Yes, I was sitting in a stand looking over a river.

A couple of years ago my buddy killed a 166” typical 8 pt, beautiful deer. I couldn’t have been more stoked for him, but there was a couple of guys in our camp that I thought were my friends that were mad as hell. Come to find out, they had it on camera and didn’t tell a soul. This after I told one of them were a 140” deer was and he killed it. True colors show in situations like these. You’re better off finding somewhere else to hunt.

This happened also. Different cliques had their own cameras and didn't tell anyone about the deer seen.

There was even a dust up about the 2 cull bucks on the property that almost no one knew about. Some of the long time members were asking why the photos weren't made available to everyone.

rules. I will never understand how one can be upset when someone else kills any legal deer. Hell, we celebrate at our place when somebody kills one!

Me either. If the camp has a program for bucks I understand if you kill a small one. But if you violate no rules then there’s no issue.

I congratulate people on their kill. I’m entitled to any deer, if they kill one I’ve been after then good for them as long as it wasn’t on my food plot without permission

Mississippi, The club leases for everything but turkey. The members have to stay away during turkey season.Since they’re acting like such bitches over this, you should at least tell us the name of the club so no other OB’er ends up unknowingly taking your former spot

The biggest thing I love about my club is it’s full of turkeys but only me and one other guy turkey hunt. So usually I have the whole 1500 acres to myself with no trouble

It’s his kill. He can grind the antlers into dust if he chooses imo. Not their business

Had a duck hunt once like this. Grandfather in Stuttgart was a dr. Took a bunch of doctors and lawyers on a duck hunt. They got mad cause my dad and I were killing all the ducks and they couldn’t hit shite. So we put our guns down and laughed at them the rest of the time

I am happy when other people are successful and have good hunts, even when I don’t. It’s a learning opportunity sometimes. And it’s just nice to see people doing things they like, and you like, well. There’s not enough time on this earth to go through life in a petty and jealous state.

Sounds like a political dove hunt I was on as a kid. I was probably 12 or so and my dad and I were on this dove hunt that all the local politicians attend. They bait the fields and post a deputy at the gate to keep green jeans out. Had black guys on 4 wheelers with ice chests running around to all the stands with beer and drinks. They'd clean your doves for you. It was a heck of a party.

But at this time, I was shooting thousands of rounds of shotgun shells a week. And doves were not getting past me. And I just happen to be in a spot where better than half the doves coming to this field came by me first and I dumped a limit of them as soon as a limit flew by.

My dad could see which way the wind was blowing so he called me off and I just went out in the field to grab some of the downed one's I hadn't already gotten and gave the sheriff my spot. And that's how I almost got my head blown off by the Caddo Parish Sheriff at the ripe old age of 12.
