Just wondering, genealogy is my mom's hobby.

Most of our Ancestors are Irish and Welsh that migrated to America then on through the Appalachians to Arkansas.

But I've never considered myself Irish or Welsh.

Both of my parents are Scot Irish, so I guess sort of. I connect more with being Scotish though.

I've got an Irish last name and know the history is there but that plot got lost when my paternal great-grandfather was orphaned at a young age. We can't get any further back on that side to trace it.

I'm 7/8 Irish, with most of my people arriving in America after the Civil War (though black people refuse to acknowledge) but the 1/8 that isn't is a mish mash of French and native American. I'm actually related to Quanah Parker.

So basically, there was never any chance that I was not going to be a drinker.

My buddy that claims to be Irish maintains he also has "curse of the Irish".....
