Let’s see how well them power plants baws installed new heat tracing. As long as it’s not a repeat of last year…

The issue wasn’t the power plants themselves. It was the natural gas wellheads freezing up.

But it’s a moot point. While it’s getting super cold, it’s not the cold soak of last year if days at a time.

I couldn't leave earlier because of a meeting, wanted to get into MSY as early as possible since I'm driving to BTR. I'm protected on the 11:00p into MSY as a backup.

A few summers ago I was going MSY/ATL/BOS, and had a 50 minute layover.

Well there were storms and we landed at doors shut. We race off the plane, assuming it futile, but by some miracle we were two gates down from our connection and were the last two on before doors shut.

I dont know what I was doing right in life that day.

I had that happen once as a kid. Was flying SHV-ATL-MCO and our 2.5h layover got cut to about 20 minutes because of weather. Walked off our SHV-ATL flight and the ATL-MCO was at the next gate.

This was back when DL flew real planes into SHV.

I am anxious to see what hi res show on Tuesday once the system is onshore and well sampled. Not sure we get much additional useful info until then. For now my forecasts will be based primarily on experience. Ridging on both coasts and a 1050mb Arctic high mean storms will track south. I can't get over how insane the amount of moisture will be overtop of the Arctic air.

A company called Energy Transfer (stock symbol ET) had a pipeline running in, and sent gas. They profited an unexpected Billion dollars from this event.

Well that's really not what I wanted to see.

Nothing like last year obviously, but a little bit of everything and temps cold enough to keep ice around for a while. Looks like a mess. Detailed forecast for DFW airport below for an example...

That is a pretty solid representation of what I am thinking. Potential for Dec 2013 type storm but more widespread and colder with it being Feb.

I have a flight on Thursday evening in Tulsa. I'm driving 2 hours from Ft Smith, AR. I'm trying to come up with a contingency plan.

I was thinking about changing that flight out of Tulsa to KC. I know KC will get snow but not supposed to get ice.

Is this the type of weather that will shut down an airport like Tulsa on Thursday?

Maybe chenge the flight to Fayetteville (Unless you're on WN). I can't find any waivers that have been issued yet

Very icy...darn near impossible to be out and about. Power outages occurred as iced trees/limbs would snap above power lines. Schools closed. Took a couple of days to recover - Temps weren't real helpful

I feel like XNA will be a bigger clusterfrick than Tulsa.

Im still not sure either tbh.

We have the scenario, shite tons of insentropic lift over a front. Problems sit at 850 mb where theres a warm nose. Very challenging to figure out how that will evolve in reality.

Rookie..you should always be stocked on both of those.

What you actually need is TP, non perishable snacks, and more beer and bourbon.
