re: Ovarian cancer treatment - wfallstiger
Mother was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer and lived six years. She was treated by Dr Kline at Oschner on Jefferson highway and he was nothing short of fabulous. Mother's quality of life was paramount and he was always honest as to risks/benefits. He also went to great lengths to answer que...

re: The last hurrah of tea partyers and social conservatives? - wfallstiger
I'm a social conservative and if the Fat Lady isn't singing she sure is humming. I tend to associate with like minded peoples but am very well aware our views are the minority views and it sure didn't seem for that to take too terribly long ...

re: FBI to begin tracking and collecting animal abuse info in 2016 - wfallstiger
There is a school of thought that children and/or youth that are cruel, abusive to animals have deep psychological problems and have horrific relationships with people and will pose significant problems for society so maybe it will be a form/method identifying risks...

re: Tax the Churches - wfallstiger
Churches which are actively engaged in politics should have their tax exempt status revoked and I am very well aware of the importance of Church in many of societies struggles...It is one thing to address matters of justice but quite another to serve as a platform for political stump speeches...

re: Tax the Churches - wfallstiger
As a Pastor you can rest assured that I pay my fair share of taxes to the IRS, and rightly so As for my housing allowance, it is not determined by the local Church, and does not cover our actual costs/expenses, which is fine, and we are by no means lavish..pretty middle class I would think ...

re: Obama concerned by 'less-than-loving' Christians - wfallstiger
From what I can tell I believe we have a POTUS who believes the USA has been on the wrong side of history, at home and abroad, since WWII and is doing his darndest to reverse...no doubt we have erred but not to the degree this fella seems to want to take our errors and one of his greatest weaknesses...

re: Should police departments have to pay for their own legal and settlement costs? - wfallstiger
Years ago our Worker's compensation costs were over the top as someone else in Risk Mgt had to speak to them. That changed as the responsibility was placed where it belonged, at the manager level, and seemingly overnight costs went down as claims went down...had to live with some of the older claim...

re: Just found out yesterday that our family is Jewish - wfallstiger
Had a similar story shared with me by my paternal grandmother some 15 years ago. Seems I have an uncle who searches ancestry and learned that our family is Jewish on my father's side...resided in Germany and immigrated to the States in the late 1800s. Have never seen his work but would like to rev...

re: Do you use a personality test when hiring new employees? - wfallstiger
I believe Myers/Briggs to have been fairly well used during the days of CQI...quite frankly, if properly administered they can serve as a basis for understanding potential applicants. However, I have found that what people hold truly dear/close to be more important than one's personality, after all...

re: End of Q1...DOW and S&P almost flat. - wfallstiger
Great question...There is a number in my head that is independent, yet a part of, of our overall worth (not that it is that much) that conveys a sense of safety to me. If that number is not threatened or broached then I tend to leave things alone as what we have is pretty diversified. We have work...

re: End of Q1...DOW and S&P almost flat. - wfallstiger
I guess the good news is there is no bad news. I am somewhat surprised, and I don't know why, that things have remained as flat as they have amid the free fall in oil...maybe they are apples and oranges. Someone on Political Talk told me to be patient as the ripple effect of lower prices will ...

re: Should private businesses be forced to honor state concealed carry permits? - wfallstiger
I could be in error but in Texas one can be denied access if the business posts such on its premises and as a concealed carry license holder that is real fine by me...it is their business, not mine...

re: Co-Pilot in German airbus disaster intentionally crashed the plane - wfallstiger
It is one wicked disorder as one's rational view of things flat out disappears...it is more, much more, than a sense of hopelessness and helplessness. The one who successfully commits suicide has spent many years contemplating it as an alternative to living...though it may appear to be spontaneous ...

re: California will run out of water soon, should ration immediately says scientist - wfallstiger
I reside in North Texas and we have been in a drought status for quite some time now. We are now using recycled waste water and doing so has extended our available water for about three years, assuming nothing changes. We have been rationing water for about 2/3 years now .... we have lost trees an...
