Why would they do this? It's the worst seat

I'm claustrophobic....tight enclosed spaces with or without a bunch of people makes me feel really panicky, no matter the situation.

I just feel like I'm being smothered...like I cannot breathe.

Virgin America or GTFO.

oh and the fact that Virgin only goes to handful of major cities makes it all the better, almost no trash from the South or Midwest.

Never used Southwest but anything has to be better than my past three trips with American.

Lake Charles only has United and AA so I don't have many options other than driving to Houston, BR, or Laffy every time I fly and that would be a huge hassle.

Maybe they think less likely to get a full row? Or they are saving the row for the people traveling with them that were not allowed on early?

If the row has 3 seats and they sit in middle....a couple trying to find seats won't sit in their row.

Those people usually don't know any better and check

Hell all you have to do with United is get their credit card for free checked bags. AMEX Platinum will credit you $200 a year on any airline

No, but my brother lost ALL his seniority when SW bought out the airline he worked for. He said it will take at least 10 years before he makes captain again.

The trashiest people I have ever seen get off of a plane was off of an incoming flight from Philly to L.A. last Friday.

The bags aren't free. They are baked into the price of the ticket.

Cars have windows everywhere though...so not really the same thing.

Now if I was sitting in the backseat of a car overly full of people it would make me panic.

I actually had a mini panic attack in the back of a van while on a church trip. Everyone piled into the van. In order for people to all fit...some people sitting on laps (this was Kenya...seatbelt laws are pretty lax). It was a 45 minute drive and we were all squished in and I got stuck in the middle of the seat. I started hyperventilating by the time we got to our destination.

SW consistently beats others in pricing. I have flown plenty of times with them and I have ZERO complaints. I've heard way too many horror stories of other airlines to ever want to make a change. I'll continue to choose them until they give me a reason not to.

SW is usually more expensive on the routes I am flying. Plus they don't fly a lot of places I like to go. Not a bad airline but not anything special as some make it out to be.

Wowzers..hope it works out for you.

How are there pills to get a boner, but not treat claustrophobia?

I have not been impressed with Southwest lately. They aren't a bad airline, but I dislike the lack of assigned seats (which makes deboarding slower as people scramble for carry ons), lack of upgrades, and the lack of service in even some domestic markets.

Those shortcomings combined with their increasing prices mean that they are an "also ran" for me. I fly about 70,000 miles a year. Mostly on Delta and their partners (Air France, KLM Royal Dutch, etc.)

I normally book all of my flights wayyyy in advance and get the best pricing. Plus they let you rebook at any time if the price of a flight falls. You could rebook for an entirely different flight to a different location. As many times as you want, FOR FREE. Who else does that?
