I think Delta is slowly phasing them out in favor of the new Bombardier CS300 and the A320. I think United is buying a lot of 737s. Not sure what AA is doing.
AA is retiring their MD80s as well. Replacing them with 737s, 319s, and 321s.

It's pretty cheap, offers good deals and flies to a lot of good places.

Also to those that fly SW regularly...since you can check bags for free...does that lessen the mad rush to get overhead space on the plane? Or seeing the amount of people trying to bring carry on bags way bigger than the standard carryon?
I fly Southwest all the time and find the friendliness of the employees outweighs any benefit of flying another airline. Everybody has their favorite, but I feel no need to change. Overhead bin space is available unless maybe you find yourself boarding with the C group. There is still a problem with dumbasses who put oversized bags in overhead bins. I consider them in the same category as the idiots who hover over the baggage carousel so you can't see what bags are coming out.

Southwest does not have an outdated fleet, when compared to other large carriers, ex: Delta, AA, and United.
If picking your own seat was a gimmick, Southwest would have gone out of business back in the 70's.

They just bought a whole bunch of new 737 Max 8's and 9's.

Southwest will withdraw the rest of their -300 series planes within a year. This will mean that their oldest aircraft going forward will be some of the first -700's off the line in 1998/99.

I won't fly Southwest due to the lack of assigned seats. I can't stand the cattle call boarding procedure. It's undignified and annoying. I also have zero desire to check in a day before I fly. frick them. I want to buy an assigned seat and get on the plane at the very end of boarding so that I spend the least amount of time among the trash as possible. I check my bags and charge it to the company.

Chill man. You sound like an OSU fan butt hurt and bitching about a wide strike zone (that they wouldn't adjust to). Don't be that guy.

The trashiest people I have ever seen get off of a plane was off of an incoming flight from Philly to L.A. last Friday

I fly SWA almost exclusively (90% of the time) and when I am on others (AA, UAL, Delta) they all suck by comparison. It is like the other airlines try to suck the life out of their flight crews.
I almost always have a positive experience on SWA and the FAs are extremely friendly.
Add to that the ability to change flights, cancel flights, and the baggage policy and they are heads and shoulders better than the competition. Now if we can just get summer over with so the families get off the freaking planes...

Southwest is for people that almost never fly.
Don't bother unless they are the only non-stop available.

Flying with them this fall. Is it really that bad?
Better than Allegient and Spirit.
Worse than Delta or Jet Blue.
At least they don't frequently get caught beating the shite out of passengers.

I don't mind paying a little extra on Southwest if it means flying out of Love Field.

Was great till they cancelled our flight from JFK to Nola last Friday, pissed me straight the frick off.
I seen Allegiant has a flight for $48 from Nola to Cleveland, that's cheap, on an A320 too which is a nice plane.

I've flown SWA from MSY direct to Vegas, Tampa, and Orlando
I buy the $15 early bird check in and never had issues with getting the exit row seat. I'm tall and that shite is worth its weight in gold to me.
Price: Great
Checked Bag: Free
Leg Room: great
Snack: Good
FA's: one legit hittable + a slumpbuster

I don't know what was worse back in the day, having to listen to bootleg tapes of their shows or hanging out with the turds who loved to play endless loops of phish bootleg tapes.
Then you've obviously never heard the extended jam session from their encore during the 1998 show in Columbus, Ohio. It's like a religious experience.

For a single business travelers they aren't the best but for families the checked bag fees at other airlines add up quick.

100%
And frankly, I do not feel cheated at all paying equal prices for SW and AA. I'd absolutely choose SW straight up.

I'm checking into Delta for a flight to Atlanta tomorrow. It's showing no seat assignment and that it will be assigned at the gate. Also shows me #2 on the stand by list. Should i just spend $9 to assure I get a preferred seat and not get bumped off a potentially overbooked flight?
