To provide services for deaf people.
4.25 cent per month on cell phone plan.
Passed 85-8.
But gas couldn't get 70 votes? This state is so backwards.

Please and thank you.

Yes, we need more taxes in Louisiana.

How do we know this when such a small portion of the taxes collected go to roads and bridges.
Pass a law requiring all funds collected go to roads and only roads and then I'll listen. Til then frick off

Yep, problem isn't taxes nearly as much as the assholes misusing them.

That's a shite load of money for the deaf. How many freaking deaf people live in this state. I'll hang up and listen.

frick taxes.
But also frick shitty roads.
There's obviously no solution to these problems, why bother?

That was this bill that was allowed to die on the floor.
But you're ok with a cell phone plan tax that only benefits a small part of the population instead of a dedicated tax that would benefit everyone?

frick that tax too, but it was very pc!!! Hardly a penny will go to the deaf. Still better than a 17cent a gallon tax on gas that will never fixa shite road. JBE will pass any tax!!!

Tax, tax and more tax. bullshite! Time to make some cuts or they will just spend moneys else were.

Sure there is. I'm in Alabama traveling, and their gas hasn't been a raised since 1992 and wouldn't you know their roads are awesome.

If you would have read the actual bill that was proposed you would have known that all of the requested .17 and then reduced to .10 would have gone to road construction. Not pension funds, not payroll, not engineering and design. 100% to moving dirt and pouring concrete.
And even if that passed it would be a decade before BR would get a new bridge. So think of that next time you are sitting in traffic complaining.

It's in this corrupt's state DNA to pass some kind of tax - any tax - this session. Like they couldn't find $1 mil to fund this cell phone tax in the current budget.
Kudos to the handful of representatives that resisted the gas tax in light of relentless bombardment by the clueless press.
Thanks, Rep. Seabaugh and Rep. Hodges, two of the few that really gets it.

My god we have the most willfully ignorant people in this state.
That tax could only be used for roads and bridges. All 17 cents a gallon would have gone to roads and bridges ONLY.
The previous rate would have been dedicated to the rest of the infrastructure. You know: levies, canals, ferries, ports, etc. and the state police (this part needs to change).
So it would essentially have made the whole tax 50 % roads and bridges, 50% everything else infrastructure related.

Yeah, just like lotto/casino money was going to be strictly for education.
