My god we have the most willfully ignorant people in this state.

It's because none of these idiots read and yet they will start a thread about how bad traffic is daily. Everyone wants nice roads but no one wants to pay.

Louisiana's per Capita spending is already higher than the national average and above Alabama and Texas. Should we just keep giving them more to squander?

They have different state constitutions.

Ours only allows infrastructure spending to come from gas taxes, and gas taxes can only be used for infrastructure.

And state police.

That tax could only be used for roads and bridges. All 17 cents a gallon would have gone to roads and bridges ONLY

Really? Guess gaming funds was to suppose to pay for TOP's. Guess what asswipe, all that moneys went into the general fund. So sure, they will keep that extra moneys just were they want it, in their pocket.

For better roads? Of course.

For baws to have truck-nuts and sea-doos? No.

Guess what shite stain: none of this goes to the general fund.

The gas tax now doesn't go to the general fund.

We don't need more fricking taxes. There is more than enough money to fix everything in the nation if we would dial back the size of government and the huge amount of wasteful spending.

It also doesn't go to improve roads or bridges--it's like magic. Remember the Seinfeld bit where he says you know how to take the reservation but you don't know how to hold the reservation? Well they know how to take the taxes, but then the money just disappears when it's time to pay the bill. No thanks.

And I'm willing to bet ten years from now there will be a big push to raise taxes for deaf services because low and behold this tax money never went to where it was allocated. Why complain? It's just 4 cents--pennies! But it's like office space--those pennies add up to line someone's pockets.

Yep, problem isn't taxes nearly as much as the a-holes misusing them.

I agree but why wouldn't those people have voted in the law that gave them more tax money to "misuse"?

But where was the current non-dedicated road money getting moved to if this passed?

Ah, now we're getting somewhere.

You see, they can't take these funds and misuse them because the Feds audit the DOTD every year because we accept federal money.

As I stated, that was going to shift over to the other infrastructure needs.

And state police.
