Haha yeah, my balcony was directly over the patio. Was roughly 2012-2013. The spot with two stories, bedrooms in the second floor and living room on the first? (Floor above the restaurant obviously)

Nope, I lived there with a buddy from Baton Rouge and then moved to Nola after about a year. You could hear the turtle races at Woodrow's on whatever weeknight from my bed. Perfect location for midtown though

You just have been the ones to move in right after us though

Get hotel rooms where you are looking. Try the commute a few times before considering the purchase/lease. Times significantly vary depending on your actual schedule. A lot of the O&G industry works 7-4. Hell, a lot of people will push it to 6-3. Makes traffic less of a factor (but still always a facor).

I moved here with a kid and went straight to the burbs, so I can't comment on what's best for a single guy looking for nightlife. Depending on exactly where you work in the energy cooridoor, there are some nice complexes right behind some of the offices on the south side of I10. If you work at BP, you can just walk to work. It's not a prime nightlife spot, but you have stuff around you.

Last time I was in Houston a couple weeks ago, I stayed at a friend's place in Oak Forest on Chippendale and Rosslyn. He paid like 650k for 2600 sq ft house. A little steep for me.

In terms of buying an actual house (not town house/condo), you will have to expect this in in almost every area inside 610.

I agree it's crazy but people are paying top dollar right now to not deal with the burb commute.

If you are looking at the Heights, I also recommend Oak Forest/Garden Oaks. They are the otherside of 610 from heights and are little better priced (but not by much). Plus if you still want to play or train there are 2 DIIi means Teams located in that area, HURT and the Arrows.

People are also not as scared of hisd as they use to be, it seems.

Not that people are rushing to send their kids to waltrip

When I look to buy, I think I'll check out those areas like Shady Acres and Oak Forest, but I plan to rent closer in to start.

I'm mostly retired from rugby, though an old friend who plays for HURT has been hitting me up.

A travel tip for your evening commute.

Head West on the feeder to the park and ride just before Hwy 6. Use the ramp at the park and ride to get into the Katy managed lanes heading East. You will save a lot of time.

so that'll be the EZ-TAG HOV lanes? You can't access them by getting east of woodcreek?

Yes it is the eztag.

You can access it by upturning on Dairy Ashford, but depending on time you leave the office the turn lanes get all screwed up. You will cops stopping free flow traffic to allow others out of the surrounding campuses.

So I spent the last 2 days in Houston. Looked at like 15 apartment complexes and drove by numerous townhomes. Going with 2411. Best deal in the area for a "luxury" apartment.

Last night went out to 8th wonder brewery then, Woodrow's in Eado, then midtown. Saw turtle races and frog races. Guess that's what's cool in Houston?
