substitute a person's skin color or sexual preference for "tobacco user" and let me know how that works for you.

But Sylvester said she hopes the campus community will take on the role of self-policing to stamp out tobacco. “We’re definitely going to use the social-norming approach,” she said. “Seventy percent of us do not use any kind of tobacco products. We are the norm, not the tobacco user.”

Holy crap.
That must be a seriously unhappy lady.

I would be for banning cigar smoking, but nothing else. Cigar smokers make everyone around them nauseous and sick and they don't even inhale, it's just for taste. Most inconsiderate fricks.

I was with all of the suggestions until short people and dick suckers. We can get rid of all of those things except them.

Put differently, it is the “tyranny of the majority” that James Madison, a Founding Father, warned about. His reading of ancient history was that the direct democracy of Athens was erratic and short-lived, whereas republican Rome remained stable for much longer. He even worried about using the word “democracy” at all, lest citizens confuse its representative (ie, republican) form with its direct one. “Democracy never lasts long,” wrote John Adams, another Founding Father. Asked what government the federal constitution of 1787 had established, Benjamin Franklin responded: “A republic, if you can keep it.”

They've done the same thing at USC. The funny thing is, and LSU may be the same way, USC is so urban and intertwined with the city that it is hard to tell where the campus really ends and the city begins in places.

I went to both LSU and USC (Yes I lived in the Honeycombs gone I know). I found LSU much more spread out and USC must more urban.

do you really believe the cost of healthcare would go down if everyone that smoked quit ......

Yes. Healthcare total cost is a discreet value. Removing something that causes people to require more treatment and expensive ones at that will drop it. Only a fool would think otherwise.

Whether those savings are passed on is another issue.

and as far as being taxed everyone could quit smoking , drinking and eating fast food and the government would still find a way to tax your arse.......just wait its coming , they will find something else that is a danger to the public and we will all get to pay more taxes ......

Those are two different points. And you're right.

I also agree with this. If they wanna have areas just for smoking, that's fine. Don't screw my lungs up in the process... I don't make you eat as much as my lard arse does! Lol
