Smoking is for the weak minded anyway. I'm glad they did this, shite is disgusting and has no redemmeing qualities. Do that shite on your own property if you want.
It's got nothing to do with smoking or not smoking. It's got everything to do with personal liberty.
The sad thing is, you'll only understand what I'm talking about here when it's too late and your own liberty is infringed upon, and then, oh hell, you'll be screaming it from the rooftops then. Nobody's going to care then either.

So will they force you to open your mouth to check to see if you have a dip in there. How freaking stupid is this ban. I see a lot of law suits coming if they try this crap.

Yes I remember we left England because we couldn't smoke on public owned properties.

What's your personal liberty stance on public fornication?

The ban benefits more people than it "harms". It's not a slippery slope to a communistic state.
Just because it's a public funded place doesn't mean you get a the same liberties as your own property.

no you don't. smokers have higher premiums for insurance to cover the added risk.
Smokers will pay up to 50% more but because of a glitch in Obamacare, there is a limit to how much more an insurance company can charge. Because of this, Forbes states "Insurers will be forced to charge non-smokers more:
Insurance math is pretty straightforward. If you can’t charge smokers more, then you will have to charge non-smokers more to make up the difference. And that is an expensive proposition."

People saying smoking on public lands is a liberty. What a bunch of rednecks.

So LSU is your property now and not mine?
Problem with shite everywhere is called littering. It is already illegal. At UNO, there is always an ash tray near, so people don't throw their butts on the ground so much. Well......when they are emptied people don't throw them on the ground.
I specifically do not smoke in front of the doors of buildings, and won't ever take a drag when people are around me walking to and from classes. I think it is rude, and just don't do it. Maybe I am considerate, so should I be required to stop if it doesn't affect anyone?

A lot of cities have banned smoking in privately owned businesses.

You're comparing fricking in public to smoking in public?
I'm not condoning blowing smoke in someone's face, but do you really think that there's a lack of air outside so that someone is going to be harmed by a smoker catching a smoke outside?
You know that's a retarded argument, because it's got nothing to do with that. It's an agenda, and if there's fornication going on here, it's the screw job being done to personal liberty, the kind that if it's painted pretty and doesn't affect you, then you'll put the wood to it and rationalize it. Ohhhh but, let it affect you personally, and you'll be up in arms over it.
Why does it take that to oppose it? Why can't there be principles you stand by no matter if it affects you or not?

Since I've quit my nose has become very sensitive to the smell and I can smell if from a pretty good distance. Never realized that was even possible from just a cig.

Grab the shotgun and go check the deadbolts on the bunker door. I think I heard some queers and illegals trying to sneak in.

Barry, the OT is an interesting place.
It is full of people who
1) Believe that the right to smoke wherever one pleases is an important tenet of liberty
2) Are 8 inches, flaccid
3) Run the 40 faster than Brandin Cooks
4) Think it's clever to write "baw" or call lesser men "betas"
5) Are 5 inches taller than the average American male
6) Despite being 5 inches taller than the American male, still manage to be lighter than average.
7) Got a 32 on the ACT
8) Despite getting a 32 on the ACT and running a 40 faster than Brandin Cooks, didn't go to college, perhaps because they didn't want to pay tuition (But what TOPS you say? Surely the 32 ACT would qualify for TOPS, right?)
But don't feel too bad for them. They are all making $250,000 as plant operators, working 35 hours a week.
ETA: It's also the only place I've ever seen people display open pride in getting the absolute shite beaten out of them by their crazy-arse parents, who would take 36 inch Louisville sluggers to their chins on a weekly basis, apparently.

Nothing is more American than smoking a cigarette. It is how our country was built/maintained for a long time

As someone who smoked for over 17 years, I have absolutely no sympathy for smokers. I'm glad universities are adopting these policies. frick that nasty habit and the butts being thrown all over the place.
Same goes for dippers spitting all over the place. fricking disgusting.

I've never smoked & have lost 4 family members to cancer but I just don't see how this "ban" will do anything but cause a lot of shite on game day. Do you honestly believe LSU's rentacops won't cause shite around campus with this new authority to boss someone around? The tact that they are infamous for, or complete lack of same, is only asking for trouble, especially from tailgaters who have been drinking all day. And if cigarette smoking is responsible for so many deaths & medical expenses, what bout those who drink too much? Once you open this door...........
