I would think that 13-15..late middle school football is more dangerous than 7 years olds bumping into each with pads.. At 14, kids are hitting full on puberty and aren't afraid to wreck there bodies, all the while some aren't hitting puberty at all.. It's the only time we are mixing those two and I've seen some bad results

They are not fast enough nor large enough to get concussions.

Have you ever watched youngsters play?

Mine played contact sports, rode dirt bikes, played with guns and knives, rode go karts, beat each other's arse and we all good.

Based on your post, your son is probably too big of a pussy to lay a hit big enough to hurt himself. Stick him in choir or something

In the real world, maybe you've heard of it. Sorry for wanting to keep kids from gang banging and doing dope.

Yeah he made sure to point that out to everyone... again.

WHERE did he play? Some 5A HS programs would destroy some Division 3 college teams.

Son has played 5 years now. He's 10.

Exactly. 7-8 grade is when they start making more violent collisions.

I'm laughing at all the guys calling this dude a pussy when he played offensive line for LSU Maybe he's not a moron like the rest of you and actually cares about the well being and future of his kids

No shite. A ton of former players aren't letting their kids play. Baseball and soccer are going to benefit big time in the next generation.

You are correct

Link included for the know it all mouth breathers who like to discredit things they are threatened by. I am not a fan of the politics of the New York Times, but I am objective enough to read and draw my own conclusions.

I am also a huge football fan as the game helped mold who I am. I also played collegiate football and question if I will ever let my children play. I feel that the game is going to radically change or fade away.

See, they keep touting "training" at a young age to avoid heading (use of the helmet). Forget that the impacts happen regardless of intent to use the noggin or not. Then, you have these Billy badasses who just validate my point that there are parents out there failing miserably (some unknowingly).

Ignorance has been rampant in this thread.

Ftr, if my boys grow up academically accomplished, happy, and "pussified", I will be thrilled. I will be equally thrilled if they happily plow every little jackass that crosses their path on the field.

Know that for every little badass chip off the old dumbass block there is a "pussy" who will be his boss' boss one day

Concussions don't cause CTE. Repeated blows to the head causes CTE so anything to decrease the total number of hits to ones head can decrease to chances of getting CTE.

Not even close, or baseball. Rugby and hockey are the only other sports close to football.

I coached little league for 5 years bc my ex's little brother played. The biggest thing I'll say is WORK ON HEADS UP TACKLING. So many of the dads I've worked with have this awful gladiator notion of the game. Also explain to your boys that just because they helmets on, they aren't battering rams. I have so many boys who just run into each other bc they think helmets fix everything.

Exactly Incidental contact sports don't compare. He was kinda tarded for saying that.
And for your mention of rugby, here's a dandy video of a bad arse chick rugby player making a good hit AFTER busting her face. This ain't frickin soccer. LINK

But, I'd be very surprised if stopping the smallest players who hit with the least force would make a big difference.

They may not hit as hard, but their brains are also more susceptable to injury at that age. That is a fact, not an opinion. It doesn't take a concussion to cause CTE. In fact, most medical professionals believe that it is caused by repeated sub-concussive hits. I love football, but my sons will be playing flag football when they are in elementary. Kids that age shouldn't be taking hits like this. LINK
