26, never owned a home.
Make strictly average salary.
~12k of debt. Will be gone by next year.
Not married.
Limited to EBR.
Rent in Mid-City BR, save up for down payment and buy in a few years. Job and social situation will probably change a lot in those few years, re-evaluate options then.

Yall have horrible taste if you think homes in Sherwood have "character." Buy a house in Capitol Heights/Southdowns/Garden District if you want character.

We said they had character compared to the suburban starter kit homes. I don't think anyone would dispute GD&CH have more character than both.

Someone gets it. New homes in this area make me want to vomit.
Totally agree, nothing appealing about today's homes. Total garbage.

Sherwood Forest started to decline in the 2000's.... It's all downhill from here.
Katrina influx had the most to do with this, but the homes in Sherwood play are par in that as well. Nobody wants low ceilings.

Katrina was almost 10 years ago. I'm sure that's not the reason now

Just go ahead and admit that Baton Rouge is Atlanta's little brother. This city continues it's steady decline.

Have you been on that side of BR, bro? Once the new population (including the Mexicans down Old Hammond)set in and the new Section 8 apartments were built, it's not like the lower class got up and moved. Hell the Mexicans are taking over that part of town, along with the Vietnamese...and of course the black population increased.
The white flight that continues in Sherwood/Broadmoor started then and continues now.

I grew up going to church on Florida Blvd.
I would say that the demographic chance since 2000 in that area is astounding...except it's not.

Yea I've been to that side of town. To me it wasn't because of Katrina. There was a strong Vietnamese presence well before 2005.

None of that happens without the whites running for cover.
Disagree that Katrina was a cause, it may have accelerated it a little, but it was happening anyway. White flighters gonna white flee. That's just what they do.

Does BR really have a large Mexican population?
Posted on 4/6/15 at 10:43 pm to lsut2005
Not at all. I think latinos make up 6% of the population.

Well you do sound like a huge vag. I go to that Race Track almost every night, never thought I was being brave.
