I have no clue. I would guess around $30k, but that is a very wild guess. Wife’s folks paid for it and never felt it was my place to ask.

Going down to the courthouse costs some gas money I suppose. A ceremony, no thanks. We will throw a party without all of the BS. Because we don’t want it. And are old enough not to be pressured in to it.

This. Take what would have been spent on the wedding and invest it in a fund. We check the balance on our anniversary.

This is where everyone who claims to be OT ballers talk about how dumb it is to spend money on a wedding

Yup.

2013. Rehearsal dinner, wedding/reception, and honeymoon were in the neighborhood of $40k. Nola, open bar, 200ish actual attendance. Father in law paid for an extra hour at the reception since we were having so much fun. Wouldn't trade that night for the money.

12 or 15k a year ago. I don’t really know but I know I paid for it. 95% of it went towards booze.

Ours probably came in at under a couple grand

We’re not very popular and like cheap booze though

Oh for fricks sake. How many wheels does your home have?

My wife’s grandmother cashed in savings bonds because she wanted her only granddaughter to have a nice wedding.
$20k all in about 20 years ago was not extravagant

For those of you who spent this or less. Just curious how many people did you have and was it at a venue?

Ours was significantly more on just the reception. We had around 150.

We eloped on a Greek island and then did two receptions in our home towns. We were really frugal and somehow it only cost $30k. I got a free venue in California and I got some huge discounts in NOLA. Honestly, for three weddings it wasn’t that bad.

ETA: 150 people In Nola, 75 in California.

I think we invited over 200. I think half of it was her family.

Don't recall how many people showed up, though. Probably half of that.

I don't even remember where we had the reception, but it was a small, country town, so it wasn't fancy. But my wife and I aren't the "over-the-top" type, either.

I worked at a private facility for years that hosted some top notch receptions. We absolutely despised it when that happened and out nights just got another hour later. Ugh, such terrible news to receive at 11:00 pm when you thought you’d be out of there by 2:00 in the morning and still able to buy beer.

We were in Charleston, so definitely a price hike. But were the 7th gen to get married in the particular church, so kind of a necessity. No regrets on our cost though. We don’t need what was spent or the potential investment.
