not everyone can afford an extra $260 a month.

Also Some see Jet Skis as trashy. FWIW.

What if the driveway runs all the way back to the rear property line, and the boat is back there? I need to update my trashyness quotient.

I grew up with boats in the driveway, the "Ole Man" was an avid outdoorsman.

This is dumb

Is it visible from the street? If yes, then trashy. If no, then only semi-trashy.

If it can go behind your house it's fine.

Nothing wrong with a boat anywhere in the back.

Whats it cost to fuel a boat

whats it cost to insure a small boat

whats it cost in gas on your truck to drive a small boat to the marina

you really wanna say homeowners who own small, trashy boat dont have an extra $260/mo?

Jet Skis may be trashy but they're a helluva alot of fun when I go down to FL and they cost like $150/half hour to rent at the marina so Im willing to waste a half hour of rental fees for 2 to park them.

Looks trashy and brings down property values

Looks are subjective but if you think that it brings down property values you have no fricking clue how shite works......if a boat in the driveway actually does bring down property values, you have bigger fricking problems than boats.

When I was younger the neighbor had a shrimp boat (small one) in his driveway. We used to have a small dual console we kept in the driveway when I was a kid. But of course people didn't believe the myth that things parked in yards brings down property values back then. either. Because if that were true there would be a ban on old or dirty cars.

So how much are the going to compensate people to obtain reasonable means of storage to maintain lawful status?

The marina thing here isn't a good example. We have so many bodys of water that most prefer to trailer their boats.

Most marina boats are pleasure craft and large fishing vessels.

It's much more common here to park a boat on the trailer at a storage facility.

What I do not get at all is how someone can be conservative, yet think the government should step in and tell them what they can do with their own property that they have owned for years without complaint.

there is a guy off of West Esplanade with a really nice off shore boat, I like seeing it every time I pass. I have no issues at all with a working boat parked on the driveway. If it's on bricks or a broken trailer and hasn't seen water in years, yes then it's an eyesore.

But a blanket ban because the current generation finds anything not beige and cookiecutter trashy is just wrong.

Hell, I would not even tolerate an HOA.

BTW, my 5th wheel is WAY trashier than my boat.

Bc property values are more important than your rights. Everyone is invested in that neighborhood and if they feel people with crummy boats that are not being maintained properly are littering the neighborhood than sadly those with nice boats get punished as well. Its like someone mentioned with the mustang. If you have a neighborhood and people are parking brand new ferraris on the street the neighborhood looks great to potential buyers, but then you get guys who want to leave as mentioned their unrestored mustang sitting there and rotting for a decade, what does that say to neighbors around you? It says that you have a slob, same goes for people who dont cut their grass, etc. When you live in a community, you abide by the rules of a community. If you dont like it, go buy land in bumblefrick and run a muck, I promise you can do whatever you want.
