f there are boats in the driveways of your neighborhood, you live in a trashy fricking neighborhood.
You seem very uptight and pretentious.

Oh, so clean, new, covered boats are exempt from the rule?

Looks trashy and brings down property values. Same goes for that junk Mustang you've been meaning to restore for the last ten years and your travel trailer that doubles as a guest house.
Get real. Something that is as mobile as a boat in your driveway doesn't bring down property values.
Also, areas like the one you described don't give a shite about property values.

Look big fella, alot of us dont have vacation homes or high rise Condos in the beautiful metropolis of Houston. Which brings me to my next point, none of this affects you. You just stated you live in a condo. You dont even have shitty "mosquito filled paddleboats" to deal with because you dont live in a neighborhood. If you would like to start sending some of a us some money to go along with your opinions, so we can drydock our boats, it would be much appreciated. What's another 260 dollars a month? Maybe it will give you the piece of mind that somewhere, 7 hours away, youre doing your part to clean up a neighborhood and rid it of one more shitty bay boat that those poor neighbors dont have to look at everyday.

There must be a lot of rusted POS boats in driveways if KENNER felt it needed to take action
Posted on 12/8/16 at 12:05 pm to Napoleon
Let's face it, Kenner is an awful place in general.

True. It is quickly becoming the westbank.

but yes or no, do higher end neighborhoods tend to be littered with homes with rusty boats in the driveway?
By your logic, parking any non-German brand automobile in your driveway will also lower property values. Kenner should pass a law banning all domestic automobiles being parked in view of the street.

What? A new Ford Taurus can go over $50k these days,it's all about having toys that aren't old, dirty and rusty rotting away for all to see. Again the city has issue with it,you should ask them why they enacted it. I'm just all the way a state over happy that someone told the trashy people, well let's assume 75% junk boats, they told those who were trolling everyone with their shite boat to get it out of the way.

How is this trashy? Plenty of decent people in north Kenner that don't have a side driveway. My parents neighbors are gonna be pissed. frick Kenner code enforcement

Not really. It's a pretty big thing for me. I would definitely pay more to be in an equal house in a neighborhood where people don't park thein toys in the front of their house. There's a direct relation to the amount of campers and boats in people's driveways and the price to live in that area.
Correlation is not causation. Living in a nice area = generally more disposable income = funds to provide offsite or onsite covered storage for toys.

That's just it though - it isn't in anyone's way except the property owner.
If you a boat isn't violating the other code issues, why is it anyone's concern other than the property owner?

I was looking to buy a house. Pulled in to see one, and the neighbor had a RV in the driveway.
I told the real estate agent we didn't even need to go inside. I'm not voluntarily moving in where I have to look at shite like that.

You sound like a pompous dickhead. Why would you give a shite? What fricking view is that rv blocking? You plan on going home every night after work, standing in your front yard and then just staring at your various neighbors houses?

I once had an offer of $150K/year but didn't move to the town because of all the boats parked in the front of houses....said no one fricking ever.
I was once offered 150k per year for a job, and I had multiple options of places to live. Place I chose has higher property taxes and the housing prices were about 30k higher than other places. Why did I choose it, because it's well known for not letting BS like boats in the driveway. You literally can't leave your garbage can out past a certain time the day the trash man comes without getting a letter. And I'm okay with that.
There is still some annoying stuff....it isn't perfect. But when I visit my parents or in laws who live in a similar level of house, I see people with fire pits in the front yard and lawn chairs out, campers, kids crap everywhere, boats, jet skis, etc.. No way in hell I'd consider moving into those neighborhoods after seeing that. It just looks sloppy. I like my house to look nice and I'm not going to put effort while having my neighbor look like shite. I can see that a city wide enforcement is kind of odd, but to say that it isn't an issue for people is just plain wrong.

That is fine, but if they changed the HOA to allow boats in the driveway, do you honestly believe anything would change in your neighborhood? Do you think the law is keeping everyone in check or are you just surrounded by incredibly particular neighbors?
People that let a boat sit in their yard and collect vines are not going to take care of their property whether the law exists or not. This kind of city-wide BS is most burdensome to the people who aren't even causing the problems.

Has anyone checked to see if any city council members have friends or family members that recently invested in boat and RV storage businesses?
