If they would have had the airbus autopilot, everything would have been fine.

Every flight ive been on, if a pilot comes out the cockpit to piss, a stewardess has to sit up there til he gets back so always 2 people in cockpit.

No, a flight attendant pulls the beverage cart out to block the aisle so that no one can rush while the door is being opened and closed.

What if pilot gets up to go to bathroom...door must be locked behind him for terrororist protection. Pilot left in cockpit might have had heart attack or stroke.

The A320 doesn't have a yoke in front of the pilot like most planes. It has a joystick low and to the side of each pilot. I don't think you can fall on it.

Why did one pilot leave the cockpit so early into the flight?

The crash was like 40 minutes into the flight right? Did he not potty before takeoff? Geez.

Those would be 8 long minutes... If I ever die in an air accident, I want slow decompression where I would just go to sleep without ever knowing about it. Hypoxia is peaceful.

Could even be just some severely depressed pilot deciding to end it all.
Or a heart attack.
I've heard "urban stories" about some U.S. plane crashes that have involved things like that or fights in the cockpit, and then the FAA just didn't want to tell the public that that's what it was.

Why wasn't the pilot allowed to be alone in the cockpit is a better question.

could it not have been a male steward banging on the door? Perhaps he noticed something "wrong" and was trying to get to the pilots ... idk.

I would absolutely hate to see the panic in the cabin as a passenger.

Guy on CNN made a decent point I suppose citing Occam's Razor.

If true:
1)You have a pilot leave the cockpit.
2)you have procedural failure with flight attendant not entering the cockpit
3)nearly simultaneously, the pilot strokes out?
4)pilot strokes out and plane very goes down in a straight line ?(if true)

Weirder things have happened but I'd imagine those odds would be really low
