Neighborhood schools would solve this, but forced desegregation is so much more important.
Forced deseg isn't a thing in EBR anymore. It s just that most folks in S. Baton Rouge don't want too send their kids to the local public school so they assign students from other areas close by but still outside the neighborhhod. Before my child was in the magnet program she went to the neighborhood school. She was one of only a handful of kids from the neighborhood that went there.

But the hundreds of useless school "administrators" will keep getting their paychecks.
This is the problem with all schools and universities. Look at the number of non-teaching/non-service staff over the years.

Sito is an absolute idiot. How he still has a good is beyond me…..
He did the same shite in Boston but Mr Gaudet sure did shove him down our throats. He should be held responsible as well.
Bunch of fricking clowns

You would think any halfway intelligent EBR school system administrator would have asked prior to school opening earlier this month, "Since we operate 550* busses in our system but we only have 375* bus drivers hired to drive our busses, how are we going to provide adequate transportation when school opens?
They knew. Their plan was to have the drivers they do have, drive extra routes, split routes, etc.
After a week or so of that, the drivers revolted,
Ultimately you can’t make people work for you.
The system is crashing.

but remember Superintendent Narcisse was trying to get the freak out of here
Can you blame him?

He probably thought he had the job and didn’t give one freak about ebr schools during the summer and now we have this lol
There’s entire departments who are responsible for that. The super is not interviewing bus driver candidates.

Look at your next ebr property tax bill. Something like 58% of it is for schools/teachers. They should have to back down your driveway with a ski mask on to collect the check. They’re stealing.

This is why my wife's AP U.S. Government class is filled kids who can barely read. They get passed a long until HS, then get forced to take college courses to boost SPS.
This guy knows.
The state give bonus points for more kids taking AP. Even if they fail the test.

This closure applies broadly to all EBRPSS services and includes the transportation system, so there will be no buses operating Monday for charter, parochial or any other events serviced by our bus operators.
I didn't realize they provided transportation for non-public schools. The charter and private schools in my area don't even offer bus service, it is all on the parents to provide/arrange. Our district has school of choice so if your kid goes to one of those schools instead in the one they are zoned for they do not provide transportation. Hell they don't provide it if you live less than a mile from the school you are zoned for!

All those taxes were just renewed too. 14% voter turnout in that election btw

Peoples heads should roll for this
This is unacceptable
But on the bright side we have diversity

Neighborhood schools would have helped cut some cost and build community spirit towards schools.
I bet transportation cost between maintenance, fuel, insurance, drivers, and vehicle replacement cost are eating away at the budget.
Neighborhood schools, would reduce some of this.

Lafayette local news did a segment on BR school transportation issues. Meanwhile, Lafayette is a shite show from what I gather.
