They had all summer to get this shite straight but remember Superintendent Narcisse was trying to get the freak out of here trying to get the same job in south Florida but came in second place. He probably thought he had the job and didn’t give one freak about ebr schools during the summer and now we have this lol.

They really need to consider a 10-12 week period between the end of the school year and the beginning of the next school year so they can plan through any potential logistic issues before the next school year, work on lesson plans for the upcoming year, get continuing education done…

The only excuse for this is incompetent tip-down leadership. You can’t draw a line anywhere else that makes sense

Neighborhood schools would solve this, but forced desegregation is so much more important.

I can’t see how anyone that actually cared about their kid could have them enrolled in an EBR parish run school.

Easy there, drama queen.

How about not closing school to hold stupid meetings?

Unions are the ruination of schools.

I believe they are in the throes of a worker revolt. This appears to be a $500M+ budgeted school system that simply can’t open on a Monday only a couple of weeks into a new school year. Stellar work.

The incompetence in school systems is baffling.

Our school system bought metal detectors for schools. Spent millions I am sure.

Then they asked all kids to get three ring binders and scissors in their supply list. After my kid waited about 45 minutes they just turned em off.

Seriously, not one person could see that coming.

If I had kids, I would teach them myself.

Well, that is kind of expected when you have a child.

Its PR, wall to wall. Never actually doing anything positive for students. This is why my wife's AP U.S. Government class is filled kids who can barely read. They get passed a long until HS, then get forced to take college courses to boost SPS.

It’s because they refuse to go back until they’re required to which is the week before. And that’s everywhere. Teachers are appalled if you ask them to go back an hour sooner.

Correct. If education were important to them, they would’ve had the meeting today and went to school on Monday.

My clients are schools, and I am always amazed at how many days off/early days they have. It was not like that when I was in school.

Great. Now half of the office is going to call in sick and I’ll have to pick up their slack.

I don't know if I'd go that far. There are some really good public schools. Just not many in Louisiana. You have to know where to look. As a general rule, if the school has poor marks for "diversity" then it's probably a fine school.

I’m sure there are, but my kid isn’t going to find out as long as I can help it.

I know too many people pulling their kids out of public schools even in Texas.
