chromebooks sent home in prep for possible virtual.

Any teaching that is not in person, teachers should have to take at least a 25% pay hit for every day the kids aren't learning shite (i.e., virtual.)

Chromebooks are SkyNet. Even worse, my ISD in Texas doesn't offer typing classes, yet have 3rd and 4th graders writing "essays!" WTF!?

To be fair, this isn't the teachers causing this shutdown

Good. Writing is probably the best skill a child can develop that will separate them from their peers in college. EBR doesn't do any writing.

Let's just say I would like teachers to be much more active in their desire to teach kids in person.

Writing

They're being asked to "write" essays on Chromebooks, and they're not being taught how to type beforehand.

Thankfully, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing was last updated in 2000.

this one is very easily solved. Pay employees (in this case bus drivers) more.

Sure. Let’s offer them $75. Why not.
Bump burger flippers up to $30 an hour.
That will fix everything. LOL

Big Stinky strikes again.

You had ALL SUMMER to work out the kinks. Why do you have to cancel school for something you should have worked out long before school started?

Yet somehow, Houston and the associated burbs don't have problems getting hundreds of thousands of kids to school. Nor, apparently, do Opelousas, Alexandria, Laffy, or even New Orleans. But yeah, it's the job market?

They spent all summer traveling and lounging and thinking of different ways to post on social media that summer is coming to a close and they’ve got to get ready to go back to school

This is the one thing that always irks me. If you are getting assistance at home and free lunch, where is all the damn food going? You can't feed 'your' kids for a couple of day? That's chickensnot. And those same parents who can't be bothered to get involved with the school will find a way to get that free lunch.

Obviously I don't want to see kids starving, but come the F on!

You really have no clue about the teaching profession do you? Trust me the teachers do not want to be virtual. It’s triple the work.

Would it be ok with you if every time something went wrong at your place of work your employer took away some of your income?

Well all the Houston area districts are hiring drivers. It’s not as bad there but they are openings.

Now, what are the differences between Houston area school districts and EBR? Perhaps differences that would give people pause before driving a school bus in EBR?

No, it’s not the “job market” but it’s “no one wants to drive EBR kids and put up with lack of discipline”

It's because EBR only gets 20% more funding per student than the good white school districts which is racist.

EBR has a milage rate of .43 which is considerably less than Zachary or Central. The district has a lot of issues; however, a high tax burden for residents isn’t one of them.

You failed at reading comprehension. EBR gets more funding per student than Livingston Parish and also more than Zachary and Central. Facts. I didn't say anything about property tax rates.

In a coal mine, I might die, but I don’t have to deal with your bad kids starting fights in a bus that would distract me and lead to an accident that I’m held accountable for,
